NONKULULEKO MAGI-AFRICA
CEO & Founder
Nonkululeko Magi-Africa is a born entrepreneur who hails from KwaZulu Natal and was brought to Gauteng by work opportunities in the 90s. After years of working in the corporate world as a human resource generalist, she decided to venture into entrepreneurship. Since 2005, she has been involved in business for more than 16 years in a number of consulting and project management companies however in 2012 she decided she needed a change of focus and she founded the company Afrokulcha. Afrokulcha was founded thru her love of the African people. She had the opportunity to travel to many countries during which she fell in love with the vibrant colour of African fabrics and the zealous spirit of the people of Africa. She then created an online shop where people can find African products, made by African people in an easy accessible manner.
The online shop was built from this premise and it quickly grew to be known as a one-stop shop where one can find fashion, books, bags, accessories, consumables, health & body products. Thereafter, Nonkululeko proudly launched Afrokulcha Travel a division of Afrokulcha which creates travel experiences in SADC, East and West Africa. Afrokulcha also has a specialised focus for sport travel and ticketing from across the globe. Nonkululeko is an Honours Psychology graduate who also obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management. She is an astute business woman who is a proactive self-starter, ready to change the face of Africa as seen by the world, one step at a time.

“I belong to Africa. I travel Africa as a homecoming. For me, the allure is in the paradox of finding myself while simultaneously losing myself, the learning and unlearning. The delightful contrast of being a stranger while also being a cousin.”

“The African continent has a rich geography as well as an interesting history thus making it a continent with such biodiversity that is awe inspiring. It has much more than just poverty and other narratives pushed by the western media.
Africa is home to every minerals, why would I not want to explore this majestic continent that is full of Experiences. Africa is my everything.”

“ Living at the bottom of the continent (RSA), it is very easy to feel discontented from the lives and cultures across Africa.
A few years ago my best friend took me on a 'Stella and her groove' trip to Kenya. It remains to this day the best trip of my life. The feelings of connectedness and belonging coupled with amazing genuine smiles, delicious food, inspired fashion gorgeous vistas and a high octane night life with holiday vibes was more than I could handle!
A few decades, and a few African countries, later that feeling still hasn't changed. Infact I have to share it with as many people as I can.
Come.”
